Cyril Théréau

Many fans awaited impatiently the first pictures of Cyril Théréau in his new colours. A new club leads to new rules. New contacts have to be made between the creators of this website and the responsible parties in Italy. In the past we have been granted permission to publish pictures by some people, we could never thank them enough: Cédric, Charles, Jean Noël, Julien… it was a real pleasure.

Getting those same privileges in Italy was almost impossible. After some phone calls and many e-mails the message that saved the day came from the club Chievo Verona itself. They granted us permission to publish their pictures and videos. Special thanks goes to Monica, for her efficiency and kindness: Grazie mille!

Since last Tuesday, Cyril is in Italy with ChievoVerona. He has been busy, sometimes even unreachable. Medical tests, signing the contract, everything went fast for him. But he likes to live at high speed. Yesterday evening he took the time to contact his close friends and also his webteam members. He told us that he will continue to play with the number 77, this was his wish and Chievo Verona respected that.

He is having a good time in Verona, weather conditions are very nice, the club is very professional, he is happy to play in Italy and to encounter the biggest teams. On Thursday 26 August he played a half time during a friendly game against Sant’Anna d’Alfaedo. He didn’t score yet but played well.

After this friendly game, more then hundred fans wished him welcome. Cyril gave authographes, talked to them and they were happy to meet him.  ”I finally left under loud applause from the fans. I have never had such a warm welcome before: grazie mille!”, he told us.

He says hi to all the Charleroi fans, he is touched by their messages and congratulations.

Cyril Théréau is qualified to play the first game of the Serie A TIM championship under his new yellow-blue colours. It is like a déjà vu because Gap HAFC, the club where the football adventure started for him, plays in those same colours. On Sunday August 29th the gialloblù fans will see their new striker in action. The match Chievo Verona – Catania starts at 20h45.

After the press conference about his transfer to Chievo Verona, Cyril Théréau was asked to describe himself for the HomeTV of his new club. He was required to speak English, which is not his prefered language.

Cyril is a striker, I like to play with two other strikers, or just one: it’s okay for me. I like to run a lot during the game, keep in touch with the ball, give good passes, and create solutions for my team mates. And above all, I like to score goals.

My favourite player is not a striker, but it’s Zinedine Zidane: I’m French and I like him for every one of his talents. The Italian championship is well organised, has a good defense, and great players. I’m happy to come to the Italian championship because the level in Belgium and Romania is not this high, and I’d like to play at a higher level.

The scout form Chievo was initially checking out another Charleroi player, Adlène Guedioura. But the scout noticed me instead and came to see me play on several occasions. The first contact was made three months later, and it was soon sealed by signing with the Yellow and Blues.

For my new fans, my first objective is to win more matches, I’d like to help to team to play better, I’d like to score as much as I can, and put a smile on the faces of the fans.
